Plus Size Alternatives to Holiday Dresses

As much as I love to wear dresses for holiday festivities, they certainly aren't the only option.  A beautiful skirt, blouse, jacket or jumpsuit can have the wow factor you need to stand out at any holiday event.  Plus, if you choose wisely, you can wear these items long after the holidays are over. Below, I've assembled some amazing plus-size pieces that would be great for holiday gatherings and beyond.

Missguided Launches Plus Size Range

While I'm not always excited when new plus-size options emerge (because often it's just more of the same), I was pleasantly surprised with the amazing items that UK retailer, Missguided, produced for its new plus-size line.  This fast fashion retailer has created pieces for the plus-size woman that are young and stylish with a hint of edge and sophistication that can easily fit into any shopping budget.  My favorites are the olive green coat (3rd row - left), the grid print wrap dress (2nd row - middle) and the floral print pencil skirt (1st row - right).  Which item is your favorite?

Plus Size Holiday Dresses at Rent the Runway

Now that the holiday season is upon us, I know we are all on the hunt for amazing dresses to wear to holiday parties and dinners.   However, if your shopping budget is a bit tight or you don't want to invest a lot of money in a dress you'll only wear once, you may want to consider renting it.  Rent the Runway provides access to amazing luxury dresses without the luxury price tag.  While I have yet to use their service, quite a few of my friends have had amazing experiences.

Below, I've put together some of my favorite plus size options from their website.  I am particularly fond of the blue ML Monique Lhuillier dress (1st row - middle), the gold Badgley Mischka dress (6th row - left) and the Kay Unger dress (8th row - middle).

Currently Craving: Plus Size Fur Coats, Jackets & Vest

As the temperatures continue to drop, I find myself completely obsessed with adding more outerwear to my wardrobe.  While I usually limit myself to a black coat for the duration of the colder months (see here and here), this season I wanted to step outside of my comfort zone a bit and try incorporating different types of outerwear.  So, I began my hunt with fur coats and vests.

Below, I've put together a few plus size fur (real and faux) outerwear options that I'm currently considering.  My favorites are the Michael Kors coat (1st row - left), the leopard Zizzi coat (2nd row - left), the black Blue Duck vest (4th row - middle) and the Zizzi vest (last row - right). Which option is your favorite?
