The Beginning of the End: Yellow Jeans & Animal Print

Last week was the beginning of my 3L year (the last year of law school).  While some say I should be excited about this, I'm not.  I have a grueling class schedule, post-graduation job-hunting, and let's not forget that looming dark cloud that is the BAR EXAM.  Thinking about all of this just makes me want to take a long nap.

Throwback Thursday:The Maxi Dress

My mom loves to remind me, as if I don't already realize, that the trends we see now are never new, but constantly reinvented.   And in an effort to further her point, she went to the attic and brought out one of her favorite maxi dresses from the 70s.  We decided that it would be fun to share her favorite and my favorite maxi dress.  Since my mom is really shy she remained behind the camera while I attempted to get into a dress that fit her at her smallest - a size 4 by the standards in the 70s.  Well, here I am rocking my mom's maxi dress and my maxi dress.

Shopping While Shapely: Touring NYC

Several of you have asked me to do posts about shopping while on a budget. Curvy girls all know that plus-sized clothing tends to be more expensive than straight sized clothing. This is because brands/designers say they use more fabric, different sewing techniques, blah, blah, blah. Anyway, the way I sort of stick to my budget is that I am a hardcore bargain hunter. Now, I am not on that Extreme Couponing tip, mainly because I have a life and that crap looks time consuming and tedious, but I do have a system that allows me to save money. My system is that I rarely (1%) buy anything at the retail price. If I did my whole wardrobe (including shoes, purses, accessories) would probably be some astronomical number that I would rather not share. So, I will be doing monthly posts about Shopping While Shapely. I will include my shopping tips and tricks as well as an outfit that I've put together for under $100.

Hazy and Lazy...

My internship is over, which means I have two weeks to relax and be lazy...at least in theory. The reality is that I have law school related crap that I have to do.  Currently, I have to study for the stupid MPRE (an ethical exam required for attorneys) that I am taking on Friday.  I find it completely unnecessary considering that an ethics class is already required at most, if not all, law schools.  So rather than going into a haze of bad tv, figuring out how to apply false eyelashes and singing into my hairbrush at the top of my lungs to my favorite songs, which is what I wanted to do today, I took the stupid studious approach and went to the library to study.

Curvy, Casual and Chic

Last Sunday, I went out with my friend to brunch at the Bourbon Street CafĂ© in Bayside.  I'm not much of a morning person at all, especially on the weekend, but I went anyway because my friend really wanted to try their brunch. The food was mediocre at best, which simply confirmed my belief that nothing is worth getting up before noon.
